Last July I was cast in a new NBC medical “dramedy” called, Heartbeat. What began as a silent “sight gag” of a character slowly morphed into a role with depth and a storyline. I cherish the moments Lynn was given to exist on this funny and emotional show; and identify with her awkward desperation of trying to impress Dr. Panettiere. She’s like me, if I was constantly arriving at a fancy cocktail party full of important strangers.
This show quickly became one of my favorite acting experiences due to the stellar cast, crew, and writers– but also because it was created, directed, and produced primarily by women.
Strong, intelligent, funny, passionate women who sought to entertain, but also to show something different. Something diverse in the relationships, outlooks, and people telling these stories. I think that is an impressive and important piece to this show’s appeal, and a trend I hope the industry finds value in.
I feel so lucky to be apart of Heartbeat, and hope you will tune in to see what was created, Wednesdays @ 8pm on NBC.
(Lynn and I have similar social skills.)
Lynn returns April 20 for episodes: 105, 106, 107, 108, 109 & the finale 110.
